This lesson provides students with basic business knowledge to improve their understanding of best practices and the decision-making processes used for success in the industry.

In this lesson students gain an understanding of how to leverage effective leadership and team communication to drive organizational goals.

Students participate in immersive on-site hands-on training, providing the opportunity for them to develop new manufacturing skills and increase their understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing work environments. As a part of this experience, students test for three credentials to verify their master of relevant skills for biopharmaceutical manufacturing positions through our partner Bioscience Core Skills Institute.

During this lesson participants receive personalized feedback from industry professionals on the framing of their resume as well as professional support for formatting and strategy. Each participant is given time to workshop their resume to have a complete resume that can be used during Innovation Festival

The conference program includes scientific, engineering, and cross-cutting sessions with oral and poster presentations from students, postdocs, faculty, and industry professionals. Participants will hear from individual speakers and specialized panels of experts within biopharmaceutical manufacturing, highlighting advancements in drug development and biologics manufacturing.

These conference workshops provide students with a strengthened understanding of how to work well within cross-disciplinary and cross–organizational teams. Leveraging a partnership-based teaching model, participants explore case-studies, learn about cultural histories, and use scenario planning to prepare for situations within working environments, to prepare students for employment in dynamic settings, while also providing a deeper understanding of how employers put cultural competency into practice. This program will also provide a broader understanding of employer expectations, how organizations can support equitable and inclusive practices, and how employees and leaders contribute to change-making efforts in DEI.

Using the students’ interests as a guide, we will match them with regional biopharmaceutical manufacturing companies for unique experiences including:

One-on-one Career Guidance Meetings where students can learn more about individual professionals working in the industry, hear about how these professionals leverage their lived experiences to grow their careers and teams, and ask questions to expand their understanding of the industry.

Roundtable Lunch Discussions that enable students to network with other students from around the country interested in industry careers.

Exhibit Hall and Shared Meals allow regional companies, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations to meet students and answer questions about regional culture and how they support students navigating training and careers.

Small Group Dinners where students visit a trendy local restaurant, with employees from regional biopharmaceutical manufacturing companies. This experience provides an opportunity for the students to embed themselves in the vibrancy of the local community to gain a better understanding of what it’s like to live and work within the region.

On the main stage of the event, we feature national and regional alternative rock bands alongside innovators to bring the biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry to life through engaging videos, talks, and demonstrations.
