Overview

Participants take part in an immersive seven module training experience where they gain valuable knowledge of the entire industrial bioscience landscape, from the discovery of an idea, navigating the legal and regulatory process, all the way through moving a product into the marketplace or clinic – all while surrounded by industry professionals.

Lessons are taught within regional companies and feature executives and staff to provide participants with a deeper understanding of basic business concepts, strategies for thinking entrepreneurially, economic framework that drives the private sector, and more. The immersive on-site experience exposes participants to different work environments, allowing them to better align their expectations for different career opportunities while also becoming more knowledgeable of the biomedical and bioscience organizations within the region. Each on-site lesson concludes with a networking reception where students are able to connect with a wide variety of professionals working in a spectrum of positions across the career pathway.

Lessons will be delivered one to two times a month. The curriculum will incorporate active learning strategies, group work, and pre-readings to maximize comprehension and retention of concepts.

The Industry Immersion Program will begin in February of 2022, with applications and nominations for student and postdoc participation opening in November 2021 and closing December 16, 2021.
