Despite the fact that entry level positions in the biosciences often only require a high school diploma, many of these positions are still high in demand and hard to fill. Introducing the BioKansas Technical Skills Bootcamp! This hands-on training experience will equip you with the tools and knowledge you need to get started in the biosciences and prepare you for upward career mobility.

Overview

BioKansas recognizes the growing need for accessible and hands-on science education for learners who wish to enhance their knowledge and abilities in lab techniques. This experience will provide  a unique opportunity for you to engage in interactive learning experiences, foster a deeper understanding of lab procedures, and prepare you to work in technical science jobs.

COMPLETING THIS COURSE WILL HELP YOU:

– Learn the basic lab skills needed for an entry level position in a science company.

– Demonstrate an understanding of lab safety protocols that enable you to help reduce the risk of accidents and injuries in lab environments.

– Learn how to complete and understand government-regulated documentation used in lab jobs.

– Understand and perform critical basic lab math and metrology skills.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This bootcamp is designed for high school graduates (current seniors), undergraduate students, non-traditional students, and adults who are interested in working in an entry level laboratory position, or are looking to enhance their resume. This course is suitable for individuals with diverse backgrounds, including professionals in non-scientific fields, university students, and high school students.

This bootcamp is offered in two scheduling formats:

– Two 4-hour days – Must register for a Session I date and a Session II date.

One 8-hour day – Must register for a Full Day Session.

GETTING CREDENTIALS FOR THIS COURSE

Other important information

– Unfortunately, we are unable to provide food/snacks to participants.

– Full day participants: Come prepared with a sack lunch and snacks if desired. We will implement not only small breaks, but also a 1 hour lunch break. A microwave and fridge will be available. 

– Half day participants: Feel free to bring snacks during our afternoon sessions. Small breaks will be implemented throughout to accommodate this. 

– Our office is located in the heart of downtown Shawnee, with many nearby dining options to choose from, if needed.
